Trent’s paper in G3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics

Trent Leslie’s Master’s work “De novo Assembly and Annotation of the Transcriptome of the Agricultural Weed Ipomoea purpurea Uncovers Gene Expression Changes Associated with Herbicide Resistance” is now published in the journal G3. Trent annotated the morning glory transcriptome and performed a gene expression survey of our artificially diverged glyphosate resistance lines.

Trent’s work uncovered a handful of differentially expressed genes–notably, a cytochrome P450 was overexpressed in the resistant lines, and, transcripts associated with plant plasmodesmata (the tiny channels between plant cells thru which nutrients and etc travel) were underexpressed in the resistant lines. Congratulations to Trent for the good work — he is now employed by MadTree Brewing in Cincinnati, Ohio.
